'Pokémon Go' Is Adding New Pokémon From Johto Region

In the near-universally adored cinematic classic (and prime anime candidate) Citizen Kane, newspaper tycoon Charles Foster Kane rises from nothing to near-infinite wealth, only to find that having it all means never gain feeling triumph, or joy, or love. And I have to imagine that was the feeling shared by many Pokémon Go players — once what triumph, or joy, or love is there to feel once you've caught 'em all?

But unlike the ephemeral drive towards achievement that has driven so many American magnates to madness, Pokémon Go can easily give its players new ways to feel happy just by adding more monsters! And they did that today, introducing a number of new Pokémon from the Pokémon Gold and Silver games' Johto region. Here's a trailer — watch it and see if that sense of purpose you once felt, deep in your heart, comes back:

Pokémon Go developer Niantic announced the increased Poké-roster, along with some new items and abilities, in a blog post today, saying that, "Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, and many more Pokémon are nearly here! Starting later this week, you’ll have the opportunity to catch more than 80 Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region in the Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver video games."

This means the hunt is back on! Make sure you hop back into Pokémon Go today, before your lack of external drive causes you to become a recluse, huddled up alone in your house, only getting out of bed to work on jigsaw puzzles, berate your wife, and stare at your grand collection of famous artworks, feeling nothing.
